Currently in production: a feature-length documentary about North Atlantic Right Whales

“Follow the Journey (working title)” is a feature-length documentary currently in production that chronicles endangered North Atlantic right whales on their epic journey from their calving grounds off the coast of Georgia and Florida to the Gulf of St. Lawrence in Canada, woven with the stories of researchers, rescuers, artists and advocates who illuminate the state of these mysterious behemoths existence and uncover challenges that face the species along the way.

The North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered large whales today,
with only about 418 remaining. Named the “right whale” because it was once considered
the “right” whale to hunt, the species was brought to the brink of extinction by an
international demand for whale oil. Today their existence continues to be jeopardized by
human impacts. This film illuminates the threats facing the species, and the important work that is being done to protect and save this endangered animal.

Film Truth Productions is partnering with organizations to launch a screening tour
upon the film’s release, and we have lined up an interested national broadcaster.
This project, currently in production, was selected by the Woods Hole Film Festival
as their inaugural “Science on the Screen” project. The film is slated for release in
2020, but we can’t do it without your help! Please help us bring the story of these
majestic animals to the screen. Through our fiscal sponsorship with the Center for
Independent Documentary, all donations to this project are 501(c)3 tax deductible.
